You joined the Shire!? Yay for mediaeval re-enactment! I've met them - they were at a feast with Medieval Methil and us (Swords of Dalriada) a year or so ago. Unfortunately, I don't think they like us because some of our guys played a trick on them in a drinking game where they put soapy water in the drinking horn in the theory that the recipient would spit it out in disgust and everyone would laugh together. Unfortunately the Caledon member drank it all out of stubborness and was ill because of it and everyone fell out. I thought it was a bit out of order for our guys to have done it anyway, and I was embarassed to be seen as a member of our club (that happens quite often) - generally it was a crap night for me.
But anyway... I'm sure you'll have a great time. Re-enactment makes politics look like nursery school. Give me a shout if you're doing any shows, although the season pretty much ended with Bannockburn.
Yay also for pointy swords! Mine's all beat up but it totally looks the part. Although my heart is as an archer *g*. I love my longbow.
