On plus side, am practically guaranteed to get in v. good shape this fall, as will be walking long distances with heavy backpack under adverse conditions. On minus side, suspect will need new umbrella in order to keep books dry. Also, boots may suffer.

When I rule the world, UC San Diego will pay. As in, compensate for wrongs done to one through inexcusable carelessness and bad policies. I've a good mind to write them a letter right now which will make my *ahem* friendly overtures (provoked, of course) to certain military branches seem like invitations to tea.
