then sigh not so
Aug. 6th, 2007 09:18 amLet's see... basically a lot of reviewes, with some complaints about furniture.
Continued Ye Olde Miniseries Reviewe: Robin Hood. I like this show more and more as it progresses. Oh, and Much!!! And it makes no pretensions to historical accuracy whatsoever. As long as you don’t pretend to be historical, I don’t care how creative and anachronistic you get with your dialog, technology, costuming, whatever. You can dress Robin in hoodies, Marion in knitted bolero things, Little John in Mal’s coat-meets-Hell’s Angels, and the Sheriff in designer yogawear, as long as you don’t claim that any of these existed in ye olde historical tymes. Which this show doesn’t, so I’m happy. Also, these are all a practical improvement on tights.
Mind you, anything would be a practical improvement on tights.

Have watched North & South, and my insides are all warm and squishy. Reason prevails! And, you know, love, and wealth, and cinematography. I have to admit that my first coherent thought was, “Why is Guy of Gisbourne in a- oh. OH.” Lovely lovely music too.

Spent the morning cleaning and failing not to get Comet all over myself, and trying to get people/charitable organizations to come take my furniture off my hands. Note to self: any piece of furniture that does not fit through the door in its fully assembled state is nonessential.
Ye Newe Movie Reviewe: Hairspray. I now have “Good Morning Baltimore” stuck in my head. Ah, high school.
Ye Olde Movie Reviewe: Hero. SO. MUCH. LOVE. That is all. That, and my 14-inch laptop screen does it no justice whatsoever. D’you know, if it was an Ellen Kushner novel, it could be called The Paradox of the Sword. I would so read that.
Urgh. I feel like I should be doing Cultural Stuff and Tourist Things, but I really just want to leave this damn city. I feel horrible and lazy and not seizing the day, but siriusly, I just want to be GONE FROM HERE.

Lay around sulking after doing laundry and finishing yet another Georgette Heyer novel (they are all starting to blur together). This lasted approximately half an hour, and then I hoisted myself from my couch of misery and went to see Becoming Jane in Santa Monica (grrr, limited releases). I assume that it is not very accurate with regard to the particulars, and having been reconciled to this I enjoyed it very much.
Now excuse me while I go find a copy of Tom Jones.
