timeripple: (new york adventures)
On a random tip I went over to Union Square to see if I could get a ticket for the live-action Death Note movie. I could and did, and then wandered around the park buying cut-priced baked goods from the remnants of an open-air market. Mmmm. Tasty cinnamon roll, giant chocolate chip cookie... yup. Healthy dinner. This is exactly the sort of event to which I could have worn my few Slightly Badass clothes, so of course I got there right after work and looked Ridiculously Demure instead. Oh well.

Death Note was interesting and cool until L shuffled onscreen, and then it was fantastic beyond words. It was somewhat unfortunately dubbed, in the dual sense that I generally prefer subtitles and that most of the voices were really... unfortunate. L was spot on, though.

It was the second of a two-nights-only showing. The audience was very obviously made up of fanboy and fangirl types, which was great fun because we all cracked up in unison many, many times. Especially at the part with the donut shish kebab.

Later, I had a flaily IM conversation with [livejournal.com profile] snowqueenofhoth in which I said many flailsome things, such as “...and then he ate the chips OMG!”.
