My faithful iPod, which has accompanied me on many adventures over the past four and a half years, finally died a sadface iPodly death this week. The cute geeky Apple staff were kind to me in my distress. I'm probably the only person in the country who bought the 20 GB model, and it never gave me any trouble that couldn't be fixed by charging the battery and then restarting. It was a good iPod. Requiescat in pacem computorem.

Yesterday I got so fed up with my hair that I walked into the salon down the street and got it cut. This actually went better than most of my spur-of-the-moment haircuts do. The stylist managed to salvage more than I'd expected, and she knew stuff about curly hair and said I should totally dye it red. (It has long been a secret wish of mine to have redder hair.) She suggested that I start out with some highlights to see how it goes. Apparently my (very boring brown) hair has a lot of gold in it, so auburn is kind of out and full-on red-gold might be in.

Also we had an excellent conversation about vampires. (The place was called Twilight Hair Salon, although this was not the conversation-starter.)

Then instead of doing my reading for class, I watched Death Note 3: L Change the World. Short version: the savior of the world is a hunched-over skinny kid who's a computer genius and also addicted to sugar. And it only gets better from there. SPOILERY FLAIL AHOY. Don't read if you haven't seen, unless you don't care. )
