Earlier this morning I was having a very pleasant dream about well-intentioned pirate ninjas and a large Victorian house. I was rudely awakened by loud cheers and cries of “You’re almost at the halfway mark!” and “WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!”. This was repeated every few seconds.

(Or maybe it was “You’re almost at the halfway line!” Or possibly “Ten point one!”; the voice didn’t have very good enunciation.)

Apparently there’s some kind of walkathon going on, probably for a Very Worthy Cause that I would probably support, in theory, if I knew what it was. So, yay walking-type people. I support you and appreciate what you’re doing, whatever it is. Probably.

What I definitely do not support or appreciate is a bunch of people standing on the street corner across from my window yelling loudly at 8 on a Sunday morning.

It wouldn’t be so bad if they’d vary their cheer once in a while. Why does nobody ever declaim the St Crispin’s Day speech from Henry V, or the prologue of the Odyssey, or something? I personally would find either of those much more inspiring than “WOOOOO!!!”, plus the declaimer would be marginally less likely to piss off sleep-deprived residents.

Just a thought.

I write this from one of the common areas at school, because I fled my apartment and got here before the library opens. Getting out of one’s apartment is much easier, as I found today, if one doesn’t have any breakfast food to linger over.

So, basically I’m living on Famous Amos cookies from the vending machine, because the cafe isn't open yet and Pop Tarts (vending machine or otherwise) are an anathema and also not actually food.

Hmph.
