Well, Saturday was the "flettin' day" (read: everybody got kicked out of halls for winter break). I have just finished the second of my two remaining final papers, the first of which was rather over the 3,000-word limit. Oh well. Now I can ditch all these Presocratic books I've been carrying around and go read The Sea-Kings of Crete until the library closes. (No, it's not just that the book is about Crete. Look at the title! I mean, "Sea-Kings"? Tolkien, anyone? Besides, it's pretty.)

Last night I went all on my lonesome to see "Phantom of the Opera" and (predictably) cried myself silly. Always happens.

*sniff* Yes, only about another 15 hours on my own in beauteous Scotland. Then it's off to Wales with my mom (I dunno where, she did all the planning. Again.) Then back to Edinburgh for Hogmanay and (hopefully) fireworks seen from Arthur's Seat. Then HOME! O sweet California.

And yet I've been walking around all weekend on the verge of either tears or laughter. I love this place. Not sure how that happened, but I've realised it did, and that's that. And as much as it pains me to say this particular phrase... "I'll be back". I've been so happy here, even without all my dear friends from Wellesley who(m?) I've missed every minute of the day. I can't fall in love with every place I live in for a little while, or else I'll spend my whole life travelling around and never getting to spend any time in any of it. *sigh*

I'm off to hand in papers before I start tearing up in here. And I'm happy - after all, I'm about to read a book about sea-kings!

Heh heh, nice icon, dude!

Also, Phantom! Was pretty good, no? Although I think they could have cast the Phantom better. Honestly, Raul should NOT be the better singer. :P When I saw the show, the Phantom's voice just made me totally melt. I suppose it's hard to live up to that standard.

With mixed feelings, no. It's back to Wellesley for me.

Yes it is, and stop gloating. But the Phantom... well, he kind of grows on one, y'know? I think the Phantom needs that much emotion. The problem is that practically NO-ONE has the right voice.

Amazon says it's The Sea-Kings of Crete, by James Baikie. Apparently there's a new edition - the one I read was very old. But wonderful.

The good times, they are a-comin'!
