this reminds me of taking Elizabethan Shakespeare with Professor Ko. I'd read a bunch of his plays beforehand, but it wasn't until we read bits aloud and Professor Ko chortled and gleefully stressed the innuendo that I realized how chockfull of dirty jokes they really are. *grin* (did you have Prof. Ko? it's hard to capture just how hilarious he is.)
