The thing about Apuleius is, saying "Dear Apuleius*, why are you such an ass? Love, Fiona" is completely pointless.

Besides which it's not even rhetorical.



*more accurately, "Dear Lucius, or speaker, or whoever scholarly people eventually decide you are".
