Today I had the opportunity to say, “My ex-roommate is geekier than you!” I think I need an icon. It was in reference to Keira Knightley being, not the actual queen, but the decoy in TPM, I think. PW freely admits to being a Star Wars geek, but alas, it appears that not only is my former roomie geekier than he is, but so am I. Here’s to the intellectual dilettantes! Well, that’s namely just me, I guess. Ah well. Saving the world, one Star Wars reference at a time (there is now a protocol droid in Spacebirds).

Yeah, I watched “Spaceballs” again. For, um, research purposes.

Damn birds. 4, 5am I can understand. But 11:37 pm is just ridiculous. SHUT UP ALREADY, DAMN YOU, OR I’LL GRATE SILPHION OVER YOU AND ROAST YOU SLOWLY SHINING WITH OIL, YOU FLIGHTY WRETCHES! CRY “OIMOI” AND GO TO THE RAVENS!

Hey, I think silphion is the legendary disgusting culinary herb that Falco and Justinus discover in one of those books by Lindsey Davis. I *heart* Falco, but Justinus? Is hot.

A good portion of the population of LA is like baby mice. Pink (with respect to their clothing, especially the capris of one participant in an overheard conversation), blind (metaphorically, with respect to anything other than themselves), and (allegedly year-round, and certainly in preparation for the coming summer) hairless. Oh, LA. Another twenty-five weeks or so and you will be but a distant memory to look back upon fondly and with mockery.

Ye Olde Movie Reviewe: “Tank Girl”. Crack. Lots of crack. Rebecca’s like Delirium all grown up and regretfully using perfectly good beer as ammo. I kid you not.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

You know what’s weird about the East coast? The ocean is on the wrong side. Clearly I have to adjust my worldview a little bit. But you see why Tolkien and C.S. Lewis had such different viewpoints? I mean, just look at what they each put in the East and West. Go on, think about it.

Went to see Culture Clash’s production of The Birds at the Getty Villa courtesy of some awesome Getty Villa people who think students with the right connections should get free tickets to things. It was much fun and Dick Cheney-bashing. Seriously, pretty much the only thing they didn’t do was “Oh, so the Undisclosed Location is Cloudcuckooland!”. It was updated to the extreme and modern up-to-the-minute, with references to Anna Nicole and Britney’s bald head. And, for our daily dose of random, a sippy cup. They also had a much darker take on the end. Suffice it to say, there was more to come after the wedding song-and-dance routine. Involving a death-spot.

I received what I shall take as a great compliment, in that one of my fellow inmates students said that Peisetairus (aka Barack Obama Osama Fox Bawhatsit, or just “Fox” to us) sounded just like my version of Peisetairus. I was deeply flattered.

I have also found out what “pratfall guy” means. It doesn’t exactly amount to being Red Shirt... but it’s close enough! Mwa-hahaha. I am so evil.

I have far too much studying to be getting on with. Can you tell?

hmmm...i wonder if i know of the same falco? the only one i know of is a german singer of i don't know how many years ago. the only songs i know of his are the da, da, da song of volkswagen commercial fame & the other is amadeus. let's see if i can remember any lyrics.
the da da da song: ich lieb' dich nicht, du liebst mich nicht. so da, da, da. & amadeus was just amadeus over & over again & kinda techno.

& what, may i ask, is wrong with using beer as ammo? i plan to, at some point. either that or golf balls. that is, when i get my 1/2 or full size naval cannon. ;) the smaller one has the ability to shoot golf balls up to 1300 yards & the larger, my choice of tennis balls & yes, beer cans (even cement-filled ones) for a distance of 1500 yards or so. now that's what i call recycling. :D oooo. i wonder where i could find glow-in-the dark ones. THAT would be fun at night!

West is always the sea - I think it's genetically ingrained in me. I get confused about America sometimes if I don't think about it carefully. How can the east of America have ocean? The sea is in the west!

I can see thus why Tolkien had the ocean in the West, and the mystical lands, but C S Lewis was the opposite - do you know why? His ocean was in the east, and that's where Aslan came from.

I'm glad you enjoyed St. Patrick's Day. But that was two weeks ago now. Where's an UPDATE? ;)
