Seirei no Moribito
Jun. 29th, 2008 08:02 amWent to Kinokuniya (the Japanese bookstore) yesterday. It’s right across the street from Bryant Park, which is kind of my favorite weekend hangout, so I’m not sure why I didn’t notice it before. Three floors of Japanese book, media, and stationery awesome! Some of the children’s books were absolutely beautiful- lovely covers, lovely paper, lovely binding. And don’t get me started on the variety of endpapers! (Seriously, I almost bought a half-priced tiny engineering textbook just for the beautiful purple endpapers.)
I had thought I might look for the original Japanese version of the Moribito books by Uehashi Nahoko. (The first one was just released in English, and it is GORGEOUS. The table of contents alone sends me into fits of design-induced glee.)
It was only after I found the store and walked around a bit that I discovered the tiny flaw in my brilliant plan...
