Thanks for the suggestions! I'll look into the ones I'm not familiar with. Sadly I don't think Pierce ever gives us George's POV, except in the occasional omniscient POV-borrowing thing that happens sometimes, so I can't use him. Believe me, I thought about it, though! He may get a footnote for being a Plucky Thief Fairly Major Side Character.
