It's finally happened - yesterday I rolled up my sleeves, went riding for an hour, and came home with a spectacular sunburn. Go me! Better enjoy it; it won't happen again until next summer. It makes Rachel's burn, acquired on Marathon Monday, look like a faint dusting of misplaced blush. As odd as it may seem, it actually feels rather good to have my shoulders bright pink and constantly emitting more heat than the rest of my body put together.

Apparently he was a bit of a idiot, our friend Captain Jack was. And not a very nice one at that.

I'm working on GG&HTOTW...E,SI, Part 3. I was inspired to write a bit of something for Rachel yesterday as well :) Hooray for inspiration!

oooo. ouch, fiona. *winces* sounds rather painful, despite what you say about it. never had a sunburn meself, so i can't really say, but from what i've heard from other people, OUCH!

glad you were able to go riding yesterday. over here we had a tornado pass through, which is rather unusual for new jersey, bringing thunder, lightning & hail of all things. they were the size of the big marshmallows or there abouts. so how is your horse? must be nice to see him/her after all this time. say hi to him/her for me :)

so the gang is in scotland now, aren't they? that just leaves the two of us hanging around twiddling our thumbs. but speaking of trips, have booked flight to seattle & back from SF, so am definitely going to be around the SF area for at least a week after i dock. the 8th to the 15th. am taking red-eye flight back home, so leaving late on the 15th, & getting back early 16th. blech. so maybe will see you then? will probably call once i get there to see what's up. looking very much forward to seeing west coast & old house & all. :)

eep! just realized am leaving for land portion next sunday. that's a bit scary. must get adjusted to living in co-ed environment & sharing a bathroom with guys! ack!!!

anywho, miss you lots *big hugs* & look forward to seeing you in about a month or so, hopefully. :)

Yay! *does Fiona's version of a jig* My mom and I definitely plan to go down there for a few days, so we can coordinate and hang out! Fun! Excitement! Sourdough bread! SF! We will have a most triumphant time. When do you first arrive on the West coast? You will have Internet access during the land portion, yes?

must get adjusted to living in co-ed environment & sharing a bathroom with guys! ack!!!

When do you first arrive on the West coast?

i first arrive on the west coast on july 12, around noon, but i have to board ship between 2 & 4 that same day. will arrive in SF on the 8th around 9am.

You will have Internet access during the land portion, yes?

i will assume so. if not, expect lots of letters, hopefully. i am an absolute horrible correspondent. :)

And it is soooo nice to be able to come back and see what you've been doing with your life. I love LJs.

Have to take Allie back to the airport soon (she says "hi!"), but I will have much updating to do over the next few days. You will be hearing all about our trip (and probably seeing some pictures, too, if I can figure out how to do that). But for now, I can just say that when I read through your stuff, I realize how much I miss you, 'cause I always want to turn around and say something random that only you would appreciate, but then you're not there and everyone else just thinks I'm psycho. :P
