Herodotus, Histories, Books 1.9-1.10
Okay. I can understand that ancient Greece was a culture that needed three different words for "marriage-bed" (I've just looked them up). I can even remember two of them, since they are the masculine and feminine forms of the same word, which furthermore sounds slightly suggestive and is therefore easy to remember. But:
Does Herodotus really need to use all THREE of them?!
IN THE SAME BLOODY %&@#*!&$^@! PARAGRAPH?!?!

Ah, Herodotus
Don't worry, hon. You'll get through it. I've blocked most of the memories, and I'm not too weird. (Oy! No comments from the Peanut Gallery!)
