the wondrousness that is biology
May. 14th, 2004 01:08 pmI am now temporarily obsessed with Les Miserables (the musical, not the book. I got about halfway through the book once and then got distracted). Let's hope it's temporary, anyhow.
Biology is a wonderful thing. Really. Why do all those philosophers of science insist that physics is the ultimate science? Biology is Us. Science is a human activity. If physics describes the forces that exist and interact in the universe, but can't explain WHY they do so, how are equations any "more scientific" than models of kidney function? Science can only explain down to a certain level; that's why we've got philosophy. Take that, logical positivists! *wanders off in daze of philosophical geekiness*
And dude. Quantum mechanics is just weird.
