the same rain that draws you near me
Jun. 22nd, 2008 04:13 pmAh. That giant flash followed by really loud rumbling would be yet another thunderstorm. They’re pretty cool, if you’re inside.
Since the library appears to have run out of Buffy, I’ve switched to Veronica Mars. I’m not liking the second season quite as much as the first, but Joss Whedon just had a cameo, so I’m feeling pretty good. Also, Logan is so obnoxious. I love him!

Kids. Sometimes they don’t want a reasoned argument about why it shouldn’t bother them that their mother is going out for a drink after they’re asleep. Sometimes they just want to bawl for two minutes, and then they’ll shut up nice as you please. *sigh*

Hey, somebody ate my f***ing tortillas again!

It’s 6:57 am when the first frantic cries of “MOMM-YYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!” ring through the apartment. I think this may be a new record.
Apparently there will be Serenity screenings for charity? YET NOWHERE IN NY. WTF, PEOPLE.
That evening... The Frantic Screams of “MOMMEEEE!” as Mommy Runs Out the Door Smackdown Chronicles, Cont’d. Fiona: 2. Screaming Toddler: 0. Oh yeah. Pwned!

This weekend I had the pleasure of visiting
cadragongirl and her excellent family. Friday night involved some very bizarre skits, although it was certainly the most fun I’ve ever had while being a wall. (Pyramis-and-Thisbe style. This signifies wall!)
Saturday we hit the legendary malls for shopping. Well, one mall, because I'm a total shopping wuss. First we fortified ourselves by seeing Kung Fu Panda, which was lots of fun. The opening sequence is, as has been mentioned before, really awesome. And then we shopped. M and I somehow ended up buying the same sundress, which is thoroughly strange because we are very different shapes. But it is a great dress, so we will just have to make sure not to coordinate unless we know it’s Twin Day somewhere. In the best tradition, we also tried on fancy dresses. I totally fell in love with one of them, and I cannot find a picture of it anywhere. It was a black silk halter with a weird double keyhole thing going on in front, and there was bling. Suffice it to say, with proper corsetry I could rock that dress.
Once again, we totally failed to buy anything I would consider a smoothie. M's family did feed me yummy red beans and porridge and corn on the cob and some kind of delicious not-almond concoction, though, so on the culinary front I definitely came out ahead. M taught me to play battleships, too, which I was totally winning until I inadvertently arranged one of my ships on F4. *headdesk* I didn't mean to, I swear! Then she drove me to the train station, and we sat in the car and watched the thunderstorm descend.
