so when you're ashore in baltimore, and you fancy a bite to eat, just follow your nose

I decided to make cornbread this morning. Normally, this would not be particularly interesting. However: we are totally out of cornmeal. But we have these two gargantuan sacks of polenta. That's cornmeal, right? Right. Cornmeal problem solved. Flour, sugar, salt, huge amounts of baking powder, milk, butter, no problem. Then I get to the eggs. (Egg. Singular.) We're all out in the house, but down in the fridge in the garage there's a carton. However: my dad defrosted that fridge a few days ago, and set it on the coldest setting afterward. So when I fetch the eggs, they are frozen. solid.

Let us say it was an... interesting learning experience.

In the writing department: let it be known to all that Dramatic Escape scenes are really Not My Thing.

Also, it is raining like whoa.

Hah hah. When I was on the plane yesterday, I was watching the weather channel and they showed a view of the whole country. It was all pretty much clear except for this bright green patch all along California. I definitely thought something like you were probably in the middle of a torrential downpour. *l* Looks like I was right. And so were they.
