Am only on p.12 of Tam Lin, and am already tempted to burst out with "Yes. But then, we're all mad here." Ah, Wellesley.

i LOVED Tam Lin. I read it at least three times in middle school. So enjoyabl. I especially enjoy the scene where whatshisname is looking at the quotes from some classical text or other (I think it's the Odessy) and gets terribly irritated at the transaltion the quoter has used. I get a kick out of the idea of classics graffiti.

Huzzah for Tam Lin!

Although that book made me feel a bit sad that I'm not a 1) English major 2) Classics major 3) redhead. Less so the third. As opposed to Possession, which made me bless all the gods and minor deities that I'm not an English major.

And I have the feeling that I said the exact same thing to you a few days before we parted ways. Hm. I must not be a very interesting person. :-)

Yes, I suspect you did, but that was in another world, and it bears repeating. And you are a fascinating person, and as soon as I'm done with various other books I shall read Robin Hobb, and then we shall have Discussions.

I also love the Pamela Dean Tam Lin books. Everytime I read it I always want to write down all the book titles she mentions, but don't want to interrput my reading to find a pen and paper so I always say I'll go back and do it, and always forget. so many good books out there for me to read!

I know! I just went to the library and got out some anthology or other of great English poets. I think it's the same one I looked at two years ago, and nobody's checked it out since! I also spent the past half hour reminding myself that I do not need to take a Romantic Poetry class, as I hate literary analysis. (I think I've just decided on Goddesses, Queens and Witches instead.)

Romantic poetry! I love reading it, but analyzing kills it for me. We had to analyze Keats in AP English, and it took forever for me to be able to crack my beloved Keats anthology again.

Oh actually I took the Romantic Poetry class at wellesley and loved it. I loved reading all the poems and studying my favorite poets (Blake and Keats). And I liked analyzing those poems, I especially loved my paper about the transitions in Keats "Ode to a Nightengale". For me analyzing the poems myself (as opposed to hearing someone else do it) gives me a way to rationalize why I love a certain poem. When I first started reading Blake back when I was 12 I loved the poems but really didn't know why, I just did. Then I took the class and could give reasons.

But Goddesses, Queens and Witches is also an amazing class with Prof. Bernat. He's so funny and wonderful. I loved that class as well.

1) Yes and I own it, and though it's not my fav it scares me less than it should, but makes me shivery anyway
2)Yes and I own it, and have just re-arranged my bookshelf so it's between Thomas the Rhymer and Tam Lin
3) Yay! I'll get there eventually. I just got Tithe out of the library, so at least it's a start.
