Am back where icicle lights have greatly improved the atmosphere of my room. So far I have gone grocery shopping, helped ransack the theatre props closet for knives and other interesting things, forced Melanie to watch various LotR DVD stuff and the remaining two episodes of Gormenghast, and been introduced to something called an "automatic rice cooker" with which I intend to have a long and passionate relationship.
Back to Gormenghast for a moment. The morning before I left I was making my accustomed rounds at the local used bookshops, and found the one book that the entire county library does not possess, the first in a long and acclaimed trilogy - to wit, "Titus Groan". I am about halfway through and enjoying it very much.
Predictably, the public library here has the entire Gormenghast trilogy but not Connie Willis' "To Say Nothing of the Dog".
