I should infinitely prefer a book.

So, apparently the LA Times Festival of Books is this weekend. Check out the website (sorry no link, Google is your friend here) and tell me if there's anybody I should stalk, because honestly I sass* only about three of the authors.

I think somebody mentioned the festival once, last fall, offhand. But nobody told me it was going to be a freaking Campus Martius Librorum! I keep looking at the empty pavilions ALL OVER CAMPUS and thinking, "Heaven" isn't going to be a strong enough word.

"Heaven + Networking Opportunities" might not cut it either. But I'll let you know.

*please to be froody and using the "know of, be familiar with" definition here.

Also I'm amused to see that Julie Andrews will be there, along with a gaggle of other actor-author diletantes. And Bill Amend, who I think is the FoxTrot guy. John Scalzi is a fun new sci-fi author; I think he got the Joseph Campbell award last year or sometime recently.

I missed John Scalzi, but I did see Julie Andrews. I haven't read her newer stuff, but I was a very surprised and happy nine-year-old when I read "Mandy".
