This week's entry is kind of hard to write, because most of what's in my Word journal is happy ranting about City of Bones. Let's see what I can pick out, though. Um... looks like a couple of movies and some blathering about mascara. Hey, wait, come back! It's witty blathering, I swear!

So, not much happening. I think I’ll go see Spidey 3 this afternoon, not because I’m particularly interested in the film but because it’s playing in one of the theatres I haven’t been in yet, the shiny white one where all the premieres happen. Also it is cheaper than going to a multiplex, remarkably.

Ye Olde Movie Reviewe: “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow”. Eh. I want Gwyneth Paltrow’s hat. But I got annoyed and started yelling at them for not dislodging the rock from the plane when they surfaced. ‘Cause, you know, a successful fast getaway kind of entails being able to steer.

Bought brown-black mascara, which I think will be a good color for everyday. I will reserve the black stuff for Cheery Pseudo-Goth escapades, or whenever I need to have a rockstar persona. Considering that I am not in fact a rockstar, this happens surprisingly often. Apparently, however, I need not telescoping but rather volumizing mascara. Oh well. At least the container is shaped like a ... telescope. I find this strangely wonderful.

Ye Newe Movie Reviewe: “Spiderman 3” Eh. I have to admit I don’t particularly care about either of the previous two Spideys, but I wanted to see the inside of the theatre it’s playing at. The big one where they had the Shrek 3 premier this morning (I saw the TV cameras and crowds on my way to buy groceries). They’re always having premiers there. Anyway, it is HUGE. There was a line around the block, and the theatre was only half full. I am impressed. But not by the movie, which was kind of boring. And MJ is totally useless. Fine, so I teared up a little when a spoilery thing happened, but I’d been expecting it for two hours, and the teariness was because I miss my own friends. So there.

I must now write about my "Traumurlaub". Previous assignments: "Traumpartner", "Traumhaus"... Look, I understand that certain eta: German psychologists had a thing about dreams, really. And that we have to learn to write somehow. But this is a bit much.

eta: I've started reading Three Men in a Boat, To Say Nothing of the Dog. Captures my mood rather well. I require a Victorian boat-trip on the Thames, immediately.

Actually, Freud was Austrian :) Don't blame him on the Germans.

I read "Traumurlaub" and thought: your assignment is to have a dream about a vacation? :D Oh sigh.

I can't decide about Spiderman 3. On the one hand, there are people saying it's the best of the three. That doesn't impress me; the first two were kind of eh. Besides which I never cared that much for Spiderman. On the other hand, it draws some very good actors (NOT including Toby M.), and the action and special effects are so fun. And I still have a pass for a free movie ticket that I got in my Christmas stocking. For Regal Theatres, and the only Regal close to home is one that shows only stuff like Spidey 3; popular, big-money blockbusters that are often not very good. But maybe I'll save the pass for Pirates or Shrek 3. Definitely seeing both, although not particularly holding my breath.

Oh, right. Well, he wrote in German.

I have to say, I'm looking forward to Pirates the most of the big May threequels. Spidey was Eh, and I'm kind of ambivalent about Shrek.

I must admit I really liked this Spiderman. Then again, dumb movies are always better in a packed theatre with an appreciative audience, and I saw it opening night with friends. I liked the interpretation of the Sandman storyline, and bad-boy Spidey was friggin' hilarious. And lounge-singer Mary Jane made me rather happy. At any rate, this is the first time I haven't wanted to murder the actors for distracting me from the characters, so that's something. Thank all the gods that this Peter Parker finally didn't spend too much time being whiney. Dumb yes, whiney no.

(Also with the weepy at the spoilery part; I assume the same spoilery part. I blame hormones.)

Packed crowds of fans tend to make everything better, in my experience. I did like the evil!hairstylin'.

quite agree with you there. potc was SO much better at the davis theater because of that. have to admit that i have yet to see any spidey. just never got into, it i suppose. also finally got around to watching potc2 this past winter (yeah, i know, i'm horribly late, but at least i DID see it, so there. ;P). have to say was not much impressed & this was not including the bits i had to cover my eyes for (i won't explain if you have to ask). i really, really hope this last one will be good, because the 2nd really seemed like a set-up for the 3rd.

btw, heard that there may be a spidey 4 w/o t. maguire & k. dunst. all i can say is interesting. hmmm.......

Yes, although the phone has now decided that turning itself off after five minutes is a really neat trick... I am just having a bad week for calling people. Sorry. :( Shall I try again later in the week?

I want to hear the City of Bones rant. haven't read it yet, although I might eventually. I've been curious to see how Cassie Clare fans have reacted to this book. (don't have anything against her (indeed we met her!), but as I don't read fanfic I've not prior expectations.)

have you seen much Dr. Who?

I don't know how the fans have reacted; I haven't been keeping tabs on that. My rant is seriously disorganized, but I might knock it into shape later.

One episode of the latest series, and a few of the one before that. I really want to watch more!
