through my eyes stare into me

Tagged by [livejournal.com profile] snowqueenofhoth. I'll tell 10 things about myself that I expect not one of you knows. If someone knows one thing, you can reveal me and I have to tell one new thing. After this I'll challenge 10 people in my friends-list to do the same in their journal.

This is rather difficult. Not because at least two people know me very well indeed. As I told Rachel on AIM this morning, I have MANY deep and dark secrets of which you know nothing. The problem is that you know nothing of them FOR A REASON. That, and I’m having way too much fun commenting on them myself.

1. At age 8 I appeared in a professional production of As You Like It. I was a balloon girl and a singer. At the time it was the most awesome experience in my long and widely-traveled life.

2. I have junior fiddle competition trophies. Well, one trophy in atrociously bad taste, and then they decided that little medallions were really more in keeping with the budget. One time... no, [livejournal.com profile] snowqueenofhoth already knows and would kill me if I told you. My favorite class first semester first year was fencing.

3. I was on my high school’s Academic Decathlon team my senior year. We didn’t have enough people for a full team, but they let us compete individually. It was, as A.C. said at the time, “Mad Wo.” Whatever that means. I used to have pet pillbugs.

4. In 10th grade English I failed the unit on grammar. Irony much? :P

5. I loathe pineapple.

6. I played Miss Hannigan in my school's ill-advised production of Annie. In retrospect, it is clear that this was an early step onto the path to a dark destiny. At one time Flatland was my absolute favorite book in the entire world of bookdom.

7. I once wrote a nauseatingly bad girl-and-horse story. My only excuse is that I was eleven at the time and had not yet met Glory Hymn, the one and almost-only Love of My Girlish Teenaged Life, Destroyer of All Romantic Illusions and Certified Maniac.

8. Speaking of my unspeakably bad writing, I once wrote an entry for the Ayn Rand The Fountainhead essay contest. Over the weekend. Because I was bored. *shrug* It seemed like a good idea at the time.

9. I play background fiddle on an actual CD. My part one of the tracks is horrendously bad. But it is a professional CD and no, I’m not talking about The Night We Had the Goats... For Breakfast, which is made of serious win on at least four tracks. I have a small Periodic Table of the Elements taped to my wall.

10. I still haven't seen Legend.

Um. If you want to, consider yourself tagged.

You lose.
I knew number 2, 3, and 9. :D

:P Okay, what CD am I on, then?

Bah. I don't remember exactly. Possibly something to do with one of the fiddle camp session type thingies.

Okay FINE. I don't remember details. But I KNOW you told me about it.

I thought I knew 9, but I can't recall the specifics, so it's possible I was manufacturing the memory.

Knew that you took fencing, but didn't know it was your favorite class. :-)

I thought I knew about the Ayn Rand contest, but perhaps I was thinking of Alice instead. (Not the curly-haired one, someone else I'm not sure you know.)

You probably were thinking of somebody else, because my Ayn Rand phase ended before I could get around to telling anybody about it.

I think the ending of the phase was the direct result of attending an Ayn Rand conference at MIT during first year, actually.
