Went to an early screening of Brideshead Revisited tonight with a bunch of people from work. Preliminary thoughts: Needs more Aloysius.

I should also mention that I saw the miniseries almost exactly a year ago, and then read the book, and fell in love both times. So I have certain very strong images and feelings ingrained into the way I think about Brideshead Revisited, which will certainly color how I view any other adaptations.

ah yes. when I saw the miniseries I was quite young, so my memories are pretty hazy.

I think they were really trying to play up the romance and passion, and in doing so they lost a lot of that lovely elegiac tone. But it mostly worked, and it was very pretty.

this is what I've been thinking. I'm glad you liked it, whatever the relationship to the book!
