Because otherwise it would last forever.

This particular February has gone by a lot more quickly than some, probably due to INSANE PEOPLE GIVING ME INSANE AMOUNTS OF WORK DUE ALL AT ONCE THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH GRAD SCHOOL. I've even cut way back on my drama-watching this week.

Shocking, I know. But Sacrifices Must Be Made.

I like March better. It's pretty long too, but it has fun things in it like musical holidays and spring break and maybe even spring if we're lucky.

Really, really lucky.

Note to self: I should probably not try to "behold" The Arrival by Shaun Tan in the early hours of the morning, because the only coherent thought in my brain right now is "MEEBLE!!!!"

Mind you, that's the only coherent thought I have about that book a lot of the time. It really is just that awesome. Has anybody else read his shiny new Tales from Outer Suburbia yet? I have it and I think the level of sheer surreal awesome broke my brain.

Right, off to sleep. I need my strength for another day of hardcore competitive library-stalking.

Haven't read it yet--I thought it didn't come out for another month or so? Yesterday I read the couple of pages of preview available on amazon.co.uk, mistakenly thinking it had come out early enough to be eligible for this year's Hugos, so I should nominate it. Whoops. (The Arrival was totally robbed of a Hugo last year for lack of a category--it was nominated for best 'related book', and I voted for it, but it hadn't a prayer. Witness the fact that the winner of that category is referred to in the final result list on the Denvention website as winner of best 'non-fiction book', a category which did not exist. *rolls eyes*)

Looking forward to reading it, at any rate.

I got my copy a little early, but I've definitely seen it in bookstores. (Which is nice for me, because it meant I didn't have to go chasing down The Rabbits for this ridiculous project.) Tales from Outer Suburbia is very different from The Arrival, but it's definitely awesome in its own right.

I have to hunt down a bunch of books that thirty other people are also hunting down for a ginormous picturebook image analysis project due Wednesday. It wouldn't be so bad if libraries could be bothered to keep track of where their picturebooks actually are, or if we hadn't had a ginormous picturebook project due last week too (hence all the bitching about paper rats).

It would be a lot more fun if it wasn't SNOWING outside this very minute. *grump*

...

THERE'S A BOSTON PALIMPSEST SHOW?!?!?!?! HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS WTF YES I WILL BE THERE. MY ENTHUSIASM DEFIES PUNCTUATION!!!!!

*g* I look forward to seeing you, then!

I am most displeased about this snow. so far today in CT it has been mostly picturesque, but the wretched forecast says we might get up to ten inches tonight into tomorrow morning. blech. I want spring, and I want flowers!

quite ready for spring myself, especially with all this teaser weather we've been having. i have to say, though, that i'm happy that we've had a real winter at last. it's been far too long that we've done without.
