Truth with a capital T
Jan. 9th, 2007 10:38 pmI think I have figured out why the education of women took so long to get off the ground. Certainly, men thought that women's brains would explode (I read this somewhere, I promise), because Greek made them think that their own brains would explode.
But the main reason was that they were too embarassed to discuss all the dirty jokes.

oh dear. dear dear dear.
well, maybe this is why you're a good respectable classics major. I'm afraid there was never any doubt in anyone's mind that I would be an English major. not necessarily a terrific one, but my deep and unquenchable thirst for books rather settled the matter. ^_^

Date: 2007-01-11 12:22 am (UTC)As did my deep and unquenchable hatred for AP English. ;) I kind of wish I'd taken Shakespeare or Arthurian Legends, but to be honest I was kind of busy with that biology and philosophy stuff I insisted on taking. *shrug* I'll always love Shakespeare regardless. And books, obviously. *showers world with book love*

Date: 2007-01-11 05:03 am (UTC)What I think I mean to say is, everybody was still subscribing to authorial intent and it drove me nuts. Also, I was easily bored, and had a generally bad attitude. (Fifth and lastly, I was on the more intelligent end of the spectrum, so nobody ever told me how I could improve my writing. This caused all sorts of fun later on.)
Have you got hold of "The Orphan's Tales: In the Night Garden" yet by any chance (I think I heard about it from you, or via you, or something)?

this sucks.
I was very bored for a lot of my ninth grade english class (definately due to the teacher, I fear), which lead to me reading through whole parts of it. now, sometimes this meant just reading my book after I'd completed the in-class reading assignment, but sometimes I'd read through whatever was going on. I did this through my ninth-grade algebra class, too. *roll*
